friends need JESUS

The most common way for someone to be introduced to Jesus is through a friend. The message of Christ is the most important thing we could share with someone we care about. It truly is the Good News we are all hoping for. If you have a friend you'd like to talk to about Jesus, but are not sure where to begin, use the resources below to help you get started.

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

Romans 10:14

Share your story

Perhaps the most simple way to introduce a friend to Jesus is by sharing what God has done in your life. Our faith grows as we see God’s work.

Provide them with a Bible

Some people have never read a Bible and do not even know where to begin to read. A Bible is a thoughtful gift and can open to door to Gospel discovery.

Invite them to Church

Many people won’t seek out church alone, but often they will attend with a friend if invited. Consider inviting a friend to join you on Sunday.

Ask them about important things

Family, career, and our sense of meaning in life are things every person thinks about. And ultimately, all of these things tie to our spiritual identity. Asking questions about these things can naturally tie into a conversation about Jesus.

Pray for your friend

Some things you can do for your friend to show them about Jesus. Other things, only God can reveal. Praying for your friend can allow their hearts to be opened to receive from God, even if not from you.

Two important questions

If you are talking with a friend about God, there are two important questions you will want to ask at some point in your conversation.

What do you men when you say…?

Shared meaning is essential when talking about big or abstract concepts. When your friend shares an idea or attitude, it’s important to ask for clarity rather than assume you understand what they mean. You may find that they meant something different than you realized, or even more importantly, that they are not sure what they mean themselves.

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

Most of us have personal opinions on important issues. An understanding of God is no different. These opinions are based on unspoken reasons and truths. When we ask a question like this, we are asking for the core motivations that cause a person to make a big conclusion. Knowing the answer will help you better understand where a person is coming from.
